The Frankfurt natural wine fair “PLOPP” goes into its third round on November 5th, 2023. As the number of participants grows, the location also changes. This time, over 20 winemakers are meeting in the new pop-up at Fleming’s Hotel at Eschenheimer Tor. The PLOPP natural wine fair is now an established event when it comes to consistently organic and naturally grown wines. As usual, some of the most interesting young winemakers from Germany and other European countries will be serving their natural wine this year – an avant-garde that is increasingly committed to the zeitgeist of conscious production and enjoyment. The group of over 20 winemakers is made up of established names as well as shooting stars and new discoveries and reflects the great diversity of German and European natural wine. The initiators of the event are the natural wine expert Christian Lebherz, who runs the Cool Climate wine shop in Frankfurt that specializes in natural wine, as well as Anton de Bruyn, chef and owner of Emma Metzler, and Dennis Aukili, operator of the Restaurant Chairs in Bornheim and the bakery mehlwassersalz im Museum of Modern Art. The three have worked closely together for years and have always stood for the quality of these wines. De Bruyn and Aukili are responsible for the physical well-being of visitors during the fair and serve a menu of bites to match the grape varieties, including homemade sourdough bread and fried chicken from Bauer Manns free-range chickens and filled buttermilk waffles. The PLOPP natural wine fair is for everyone who wants to exchange ideas, try new things and find inspiration – sommeliers, natural wine fans and those interested are equally welcome.
